Mass Effect 2 demo impressions Posted by Garrett Green on Jan 4, 2011 03:21 (Jan 4, 2011 03:21) |
Both gamers and critics alike have loved the Mass Effect series. For a while now, PS3 owners have been left by the wayside and unable to enjoy the series. Now, it is finally making its way to the Playstation and Sony fans everywhere have been rejoicing. After sitting down the demo, I am as excited has ever. The demo starts off with a small recap of the first Mass Effect game. Expect more of a recap when the actual game lands. Then the game kicks in with all of its glory. Without spoiling anything, the beginning is pretty dramatic and if you don’t already know what happens, you may be surprised. The demo is comprised of two parts, the beginning of the game and another mission later down the line when you try to recruit a team member. These two missions were surprisingly long, giving us a good impression of the game. The control scheme works well with the PS controller so there are no worries there. Visually, the demo is stunning. There have been talks about how this version will compare to the original Xbox 360 version. There are some differences but nothing major. The lighting is a little better and the characters faces look a little more realistic in movements. I did notice, however, that there were some screen tears during the cinematics. Whether or not this will be on the disc version will remain to be seen. All in all, the demo was great and will hold off the masses until the full game releases. If you are wondering how the game will play out head on over to your local PSN and download the demo. |
