Minecraft Review Posted by Dardin Kay on Nov 18, 2011 11:15 (183 days ago) |
Minecraft is a game that will leave a footprint on this generation and generations to come. Ever since the beta, the game has been played by millions and with the growing popularity to this date, Minecraft has been officially released as a retail version.
Minecraft is a game that will suit any gamer. From Survival mode to Hardcore mode and creative mode, choosing what option you want to play is as easy as one click. Survival and Hardcore are similar along the lines except for in Hardcore, once you die your whole entire file is rendered useless. While in Survival mode, you can die as much as you want.
Creative mode is for the enthusiasts who have a need to create massive buildings without having to hunt down the resources. When you start a creative world, you have every single item that is available in Minecraft at your disposal, no limits. Full cities have been made in Minecraft which have taken months to complete but look amazing. With knowledge of redstone, you can make the building disappear with one simple click.
Minecraft is a game that I have been personally tracking in it’s earlier beta stages, no I was not in the Alpha but once the game became well known, I jumped on board and never looked back. Minecraft is a type of game that drags you in due to the amounts of creativity that you can persue in the game. The game has rapidly changed from it being in the Beta stage to hitting the retail version. New sounds and new items have made its way to the game.
Turning on the game’s function to randomly generated structures creates an adventure. Browsing the Minecraft world looking for a ravine or a village with friendly mobs has never felt so good on the inside. Villages are a nice place to stay at while you are on the lookout for resources and do not have enough time to venture on back home due to it being night. Of course, you could be a rebel and see how long you can survive the night with what you have with you.
To much surprise, Minecraft does have an ending. I will not spoil how to end the game but for those who want to know where to go, just go to the Ender World and you will understand what to you from there.
Minecraft is a game that can not be reviewed like any other game. From having a crafting table to having a list of mobs to battle, the game is quite adventurous. To start off, listing majority of the mobs that you encounter in Minecraft is a great way to go:
Hostile Mobs (Mobs will attack you until you die):
Cave Spider (Poisonous)
Creeperssssssss
Silver Fish (Annoying....)
Ghast
Skeleton
Slime (Yes, slim can kill you)
Spider
Spider Jokey (A skeleton mob on top of a spider...run away from these)
Zombie
Of course there are also Neutral mobs that will not attack you unless you attack or stare at them first:
Enderman
Zombie Pigmen (It is exactly what it sounds like, a mix of a zombie, pic and a MAN)
Wolf (You can tame the wolf with a bone, they will love you forever, make sure to feed them)
Passive(aka animals that provide resources that you need to survive)
Chicken
Cow
Sheep
Pig
Squid
Fish (Food...you have to fish to get the fish)
Other mob, special or just crazy:
Ender Dragon (Pain to kill)
Of course those are not all of the mobs in the game, Notch will most likely continue updating the game and adding more stuff to it to provide a better experience while playing.
The character you play as relies on food to survive, now depending on what mode you are in, the food bar dropping to zero can result in death. Minecraft allows you to grow wheat, sugar, melons and a whole bunch of other things besides food. The option to bake cake makes it feel like reality where you think that cake is healthy for you (It is not...but it is delicious!) You also have the option to have armor on your character which reduces the amount of damage you take.
I could write about Minecraft in quite a few pages, but you should get the just that this game is just pure awesome.
10/10
